Introductory Workshop by SCRC
SCRC organized a daylong workshop on 15th November, 2014, to introduce core concepts of clinical research. It was aimed at the Nursing faculty and students of SCN, however all allied health professionals were invited.
The team members of SCRC presented lectures and interactive sessions on clinical research, research ethics/ICH-GCP guidelines, Informed consent, formulating research questions, proposal/manuscript writing, RCTs/ observational designs, Statistics, qualitative research methods, and pharmacists in research.
Special emphasis was placed on the role of ‘research nurses’ – the various responsibilities and opportunities of a nurse, in the field of research. RN’s Umar and Nabeel, currently involved in clinical trials at SIH, shared their personal experiences with the audience.
The workshop was well received and SCRC hopes to conduct such sessions on a regular basis in the future.
