Research Open House at Shifa Clinical Research Center 23rd May to 29th May, 2015
In celebration of International Clinical Trials Day (21st of May,2014), and remembrance of James Lind who, in 1747, conducted the first ever controlled clinical trial on a group of sailors suffering from scurvy, SCRC arranged a four-day Research Open House from 23rd to 29th of May, 2015. The two-hourly sessions on alternate days comprised of talks on ‘formulating a Research Question’ by Dr. Ammad Fahim Senior Clinical Research Associate, ‘Cross-sectional Study Design’ by Umar Khattak Research Nurse, ‘Case-Control study design’ by Kinza Waqar Assistant Clinical Research Associate, ‘Cohort Study Design’ by Dr. Asra Nayab Assistant Clinical Research Associate, ‘Randomized Controlled Trials’ by Khulood Janjua Research Pharmacist, and ‘Clinical Statistics’ by Danish Hassan Khan Biostatistician.
Amongst the attendees were consultants, postgraduate trainees, dieticians, medical technologists and students of Shifa College of Medicine. SCRC mementos, designed by Dr. Shoaib Ikram (Senior Coordinator-Device Simulation & Innovation) were distributed amongst attendees at the end of the sessions.
