Dr. Habib-Ur-Rahman has graduated from King Edward Medical College, Lahore. He received his Internal Medicine training at D. C. General Hospital, Howard University, Washington D.C. and Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan and Wright State University, Dayton Ohio, the U.S. He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases from Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Connecticut, Hartford, Connecticut. the U.S.
He is a Diplomate American Board of Internal Medicine & American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases. He has extensive experience in cardiology as well as in education, training, and management. He had been a Consultant Cardiologist and Head of Cardiology at Graham Hospital, Canton, Illinois, and later at Byrd Regional Hospital at Leesville, Louisiana, U.S. In addition to his teaching experience at Wright State University, Connecticut, U.S., he is presently Associate Professor of Medicine and Cardiology at Shifa College of Medicine, Islamabad. He has been a member of different scientific councils and committees including the Pakistan Lifesavers Foundation, Pakistan Cardiac Society and Faculty of Cardiology, College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.

Dr. Mohammad Asad Saleem is currently serving as Chief of Cardiology at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad. He is among the leading Cardiologists and Electrophysiologists in Pakistan. He is extensively trained in diagnosing & treating complex heart conditions & diseases, especially related to heartbeat and heart rhythms, from renowned international institutions. His professional areas of interest and expertise include performing Coronary Angiographies, Angioplasties, Pacemaker Implants, Defibrillators, Electro-physiologic (EP) studies/ Ablation procedures.

Dr. Muhammad Abdul Azim did his Fellowships in Internal Medicine and Cardiology from the College of Physicians & Surgeons, Pakistan. He completed his residency in Medicine from CMH, Quetta, and Cardiology from Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology, Rawalpindi. He is also a Member of the Pakistan Cardiac Society.

Dr. Asaad Akbar Khan

Dr. Asaad Akbar Khan graduated with distinction from King Edward Medical College, Lahore. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training at University College Hospital Galway (Ireland). He went on to receive accredited General Cardiology training(CCST) from the Royal College of Physicians, Ireland. During the course of his training, he successfully acquired MRCP(Ireland) and MRCP(UK) qualifications. He then moved to Boston, USA where he received advanced fellowship training in Cardiac Imaging (advanced echocardiography, Cardiac CT, Cardiac MRI) from Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, U.S followed by Fellowships in Interventional Cardiology & Structural Heart Diseases from Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, U.S.
He was then hired to serve as faculty consultant (attending) interventional cardiologist along with being appointed as Assistant Director of Interventional Structural Heart Disease Program at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York and Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. The program is considered one of the highest patient volume programs with the safest outcomes in the United States. Presently he is continuing his affiliation as adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Dr. Asaad A Khan has performed the highest number of Rotabolation Angioplasty procedures in Pakistan in the year 2020 for patients in need of this advanced treatment. His professional areas of interest and expertise include complex high-risk angioplasties (CHIP) and performing structural heart interventions such as ASD closures, mitral and aortic valvuloplasties, mitral clip, and TAVI/TAVR procedures. TAVI has emerged as a breakthrough in the field of interventional cardiology and now recognized as an alternative, for selected patients, to standard valve replacement surgery. He has performed more than 500 TAVI procedures in the United States.
Dr. Asaad has trained many physicians in the United States and is now a proctor/ lead trainer of Pakistani doctors for structural heart interventions and complex coronary interventions including rotablation-assisted angioplasties. He is also serving as an international proctor for Medtronic and Boston Scientific for the entire Middle East & North African region (MENA). He has authored numerous research articles and book chapters in various international journals and textbooks.

Dr. Salman Waheed graduated from Khyber Medical University with distinction. After that, he went to the United States for higher education and completed an internal medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, (USA). He then went to Johns Hopkins University on scholarship (considered one of the most prestigious universities in the USA) and completed an internal medicine fellowship as well as a Master’s in health science in cardiovascular disease epidemiology. He then completed a cardiology fellowship at Kansas City’s University of Kansas Medical Center. This was followed by additional interventional cardiology training from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the United States.
Dr. Salman holds a faculty appointment at the University of Illinois at Peoria, USA. Before moving to Pakistan, he was practicing as a staff interventional cardiologist at St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL. Dr. Salman Waheed has extensive academic, teaching, and research experience at different institutions in the USA and has been actively involved with training doctors and physicians in the USA and currently in Pakistan. He is the leading author of numerous original research papers published in international journals as well as book chapters.
Dr. Salman specializes in treating patients with all kinds of cardiovascular problems. He is highly trained and skilled at invasive and interventional cardiology procedures, including complex and high-risk coronary interventional procedures (CHIP), the use of rotational atherectomy for complex calcified coronary lesions, and many others. He has previously worked as a Consultant Cardiologist & Senior Lecturer at the University of Wales, the U.K., Consultant Cardiologist at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, U.K., and Consultant Cardiologist in IPSWICH Hospital, U.K. He is currently working as a Consultant Cardiologist in Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad.

Dr. Abdul Malik Sheikh is currently serving as an Associate Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad. Dr. Liaqat Zaman

Dr. Liaqat Zaman joined Shifa International Hospital as a consultant cardiac electrophysiologist. He has a very vast clinical and academic experience in cardiac electrophysiology. He has experience in diagnosing and treating complex cardiac arrhythmias. If heart rhythm cannot be treated with medications, he has expertise in various invasive procedures for the permanent cure of cardiac arrhythmias. He has a special interest in three-dimensional cardiac mapping to identify arrhythmias and apply catheter ablation to eliminate them. He has started these procedures in our hospital. In addition, he implants simple as well as more advanced forms of pacemakers and ICDs. These include biventricular devices, conduction system pacing, and leadless pacemakers. The latter are small pacemakers, about the size of a capsule of medication, that are positioned inside the heart; there is nothing outside.
Dr. Liaqat is a graduate of Khyber Medical College Peshawar and then completed all of his postgraduate training in the United States. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He completed his clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Miami School of Medicine and then continued into an academic career at that institution. He then moved to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King Faisal Specialist Hospital, which is well known in the world and the best hospital in the Kingdom. He then went back to the United States for private practice. He continued his academic activities even while in private practice. Currently, he holds the title of Clinical Professor of Cardiology at the Central Michigan University School of Medicine.
